David Peters asked:

If you love to wear makeup but hate to pay full price for your lipstick, mascara, compact, or blusher, not to worry. There are plenty of ways for the frugal shopper to enhance her loveliness without breaking the bank. Check out these ideas for finding low-cost makeup:

Use Coupons!

Plenty of makeup manufacturers offer great rebates and coupons. In fact, if you look through your department, pharmacy, and grocery store circulars each week to see what’s on sale, you may actually be able to snag a great makeup deal. Consider this - if a concealer is typically $8, but is on sale for $6 and you have a coupon to save you $2, you’ll only pay half (or $4).

Check Out Clearance Aisles

Most stores have an aisle or two devoted to the items that haven’t sold well, and often those items include makeup. And don’t worry - it’s not all green eyeshadow and black nail polish. You can absolutely find some top-quality makeup in shades and colors you’ll love. And some clearances are up to 90% off. Imagine buying a product that retails for $10 at a cost of $1! Wow!

Host a Party

Have a friend who sells makeup as a “side” business? Why not host a party for her? Mary Kay, Avon, and other makeup sales reps all love to reward the hostess with free gifts and “chits” for makeup purchases. You’ll be able to use name-brand merchandise without having to spend much (if anything) at all.

Check Out Online Stores

There are some online merchants who sell top-end makeup for very little. First, see what you can find on the popular auction sites; next, type “cheap makeup” into your search engine. Again, you’ll never know what’s out there for a few bucks until you dig around! And it’s worth the effort to make an awesome makeup find!

Look for Samples

At many high-end department stores, you can snag great makeup deals just by asking. As you peruse the makeup kiosks (such as Estee Lauder and Revlon), casually ask the sales staff if they have any makeup samples you could try. Often, the sample sizes are quite ample and may last for a while. It’s a terrific way to reward yourself with some exceptional makeup for virtually nothing (except the cost to get to the store!)

Haunt Yard Sales

Believe it or not, you can find makeup at yard and garage sales! The only thing you have to be concerned about is making sure any makeup you purchase from these places has never been opened. Otherwise, the makeup could be contaminated with bacteria which could make your face break out. Also, look for expiration dates; sometimes, makeup at yard sales has expired. (That’s why it’s there.) But don’t let this stop you - many a person has gotten rid of makeup she doesn’t care for (or was given as a gift), and it’ll be a reward for you!

By being a little innovative, you can find terrific ways to save on makeup.

10 Reasons Why Companies not Sending/providing Free Samples to You?

Chetan Ahuja asked:

Each and every person from us want the free samples of make ups, free samples of baby items, free samples of electronic goods and many other things. There are so many persons who request a lot of companies for the free samples of goods like the makeup items, baby goods and some other items too. But most of them are not able to get the free samples of goods. Do you know why the companies are not sending the free samples to everyone? There are a lot of reasons behind it. Some of them are as follows (Visit for complete information about getting free samples at http://www.freegoods4u.we.bs):

Companies did not take your request seriously.

The Email ID you created look like a spam.

You demanded costly goods.

You are far from the area of the company and sending you the free samples would have cost a lot to the company.

Your email or the letter was so unprofessional that the company thought that sending you the free samples will be the wastage of goods.

Goods the free samples of which you requested are not in production now.

You are unable to convince the company that sending free samples to you will provide any benefit to the company.

You wrote a mail with poor grammar and a lot of spelling mistakes.

You did not take it seriously and wrote the mail just for passing the time and you wasted the time of yours and the company’s too.

You could not tell the company that what you are going to do with those free samples.

You can remove all these limitations and can force the companies to send free samples of goods to you. Do you know how? Great information about requesting free samples, with type of products and the companies is given at http://www.freegoods4u.we.bs If you are serious about getting free samples then you must visit at that site.

Asian Skintones and Mineral Makeup

Lynn Starner asked:

If you are Asian and have been shopping for mineral makeup you may be familiar with this scenario. You buy a color that looks great in the jar, get it home, try it on and all of a sudden you either look orange or pink and ashy. Neither is an attractive look, and after trying a couple brands and experiencing the same results you just give up and go back to your previous traditional makeup.

Mineral makeup is not new, but the concept is having resurgence in North America and Europe. Because these areas do not have the high concentrations of Asian skintones to work with, it is easy for companies to misinterpret the need. In reality, there is a great need for Asian skintone mineral makeup and while there are only a few companies actively pursuing the Asian market, it is beginning to grow. Asian skin has a distinct yellow undertone and the pigments used for coloring cosmetics often have an orange or pink undertone, which are unsuitable for Asian skin. However, the right mineral makeup can make all the difference in how your skin looks and feels. One example of a company whose products are specifically formulated and created for women of color is Sheer Aqua (www.sheeraqua.com). I have found that their cosmetics are extremely pure and come in an a array of colors that nicely complement the yellow and golden undertones skin of Asians, Latinas, Hispanics, bi-racial, mixed race, and women of Mediterranean descent.

Basic Asian Skin Traits

It’s obvious that Asian skintones are often yellow, but it’s what is less obvious that makes mineral makeup an ideal solution for Asian skin. Asian skin is often smooth with few pores. It is more prone to irritation because common preservatives, fragrances and alcohol suitable for other skin types react badly on Asian skin. Asian skin is also more prone to acne, so be careful of cosmetic grade oils and esters as they may be easily trapped in your pores and cause the blockage known as acne. Asian skin has better elasticity and more collagen.

Basically, Asian skin is sensitive skin. Mineral makeup is non-comedogenic and will not clog your pores. It also has no harsh chemicals, synthetic preservatives, talc, alcohols, fragrances or other ingredients known to irritate sensitive skin. Mineral makeup helps camouflage larger pores or skin discolorations without putting oils or parabens on your skin. Now that you know the benefits of mineral makeup, it’s merely a matter of finding the right foundation color.

Asian Skintones

There are several basic Asian skintones. You may fall in only one category or you may be a combination. This is merely a guide to help you find the right mineral makeup foundation color.

Japanese: is the lightest skin tone, with little skin redness

Chinese: is the next lightest, but can be darker, with little skin redness

Filipino (Malay): is in the middle

Thai: is darker, and often similar to Latin skintones

Indians: are the darkest skin tone, with high skin redness

Chinese and Korean skin tends to show fewer wrinkles, but are also the most likely to turn more yellow with age. Filipino (Malay) have the most yellow skin. East Asians (Chinese, Koreans, Japanese) tend to have more yellow tones, while South Asian (Nepalese, Bangladeshi, Indians, Pakistani) and Middle Eastern women will tend to have more olive skintones.

What Do I Do Now?

Using the basic guidelines above, you should be able to fairly accurately choose what your skintone is. Next, find a company (ideally one where you can visit the store and try the colors with the help of a makeup artist) offering colors to suit Asian skintones and sample their products. A makeup artist in one of these stores can help you learn how to apply mineral makeup and how to choose the right color for your skintone.

Mineral makeup is applied a bit differently than traditional makeup and it’s always easier to learn if someone can show you hands-on how it’s done. Plus, it gives you a chance to try different colors and see if they work for you before you commit to buying a full size product.

Because Asian skin is so diverse and has many subcategories of color, don’t be discouraged if the first foundation color does not work. Keep trying and you will find the right color and it is well worth it when you do. The best thing to do is find a company that specializes in Asian skintones or has worked closely with Asian clientele. These companies are working hard to develop colors that look natural on Asian women. They know how Asian skin reacts to colors and formulas and they are able to make products most compatible with Asian skin. Their foundation colors are yellow with no orange or pink, tan with no orange or true olive.

Why Mineral Makeup?

Danielc asked:

In the biggest beauty trend ever, mineral makeup, once found through a specific company, is now fully mainstreamed and may even be purchased at your local drugstore.

Because little is used per application, mineral makeup lasts longer than traditional liquid makeup. Visibly reduced lines and wrinkles, the refined the look of pores, and the blending of uneven skin tones, is the draw to this revolutionary skin care product. In addition, this product is ideal for all skin types and look at this, it’s made in the USA.

Applied through a buff motion, the warmth of your skin will slightly liquefy the loose powder, which in turn, leaves your skin with a youthful glow and a naturally covered finish.

In general, mineral makeup refers to foundation but also includes products such as, face color, eye shadows, blushes and eyeliner. Its beneficial properties come from the fact that the “true” mineral makeup is derived from crushed minerals and includes four, possibly five ingredients; Titanium Dioxide, Bismuth Oxychloride, Mica, and Iron Oxides. Titanium Dioxide is used in cosmetics for its whitening properties. Mica reflects light from the face and is a translucent skin-hugging mineral. Bismuth Oxychloride provides a skin glow due to the fact that it is a pearlescent mineral while Iron Oxide provides color to the foundation of mineral makeup. In some mineral makeup products, Zinc Oxide, known for its healing properties with problem skin such as rosacea and acne, may replace Bismuth as a natural ingredient.

Even with the special care mineral makeup companies take to make an all natural product, it is found some consumers itch while wearing this makeup; Bismuth is the culprit of the itch. Also, consumers with oily skin did not enjoy the ‘glow’ Bismuth left behind. To remedy these complaints, and smooth the ruffled feathers of this customer group, several lines of Bismuth-free mineral makeup is now easy to find and readily affordable.

The cost of the mineral makeup purchase price varies widely; from $60.00 for a full size container to $2.25 for a generous sized sample amount. Consumers would be wise to compare company products and prices before a purchase.

Mineral makeup is one of the most revolutionary skin care products in the beauty market today. Although it has been available since the mid-70’s, it is within the last ten years ladies of all incomes, skin types and color could afford and enjoy the enhanced benefits mineral makeup coverage offers.

There are many great mineral companies out there that do not use bismuth ox chloride, I have chosen the one I use after much research looking for purity, absence of chemicals and preservatives, adhesion (how long it stays on) and overall finish (how it looks on), BeautyCosmedics

Paraben and Preservative Free Skin Care-How To Look Younger And Get Rid Of Wrinkles Part Two

<div><em><strong>Dawn Sinclair</strong> asked: </em><br/><br/><br/>Dazzling, radiant, youthful-looking skin all starts with clean skin.<br/><br/>A makeup remover should be a light and rich cleansing oil that contains no mineral oil. Look for a makeup remover that deeply penetrates skin cells and pores to remove eye and face makeup as well as the daily accumulation of environmental irritants. Next find a facial cleanser that whisks away any excess oil and dirt without stripping or drying your skin…leaving your skin clean, smooth, soft, and young looking. Is clean skin important to you? Stop washing your face with stuff that’s worse than dirt.<br/><br/>Once your skin is clean, onward toward looking younger and getting rid of wrinkles. You’re ready for the toner or balancer. This is to visibly refine and balance your skin - and should be formulated to balance the skin’s pH with light but hydrating coverage. This helps diminish pores and refresh your skin as you hydrate and protect it. Try to find a plant derived moisture complex which will preserve the skin’s moisture without stickiness - like an invisible shield of moisture to protect you from the world.<br/><br/>Use your toner/balancer morning and night and you should be able to watch pore size appear to diminish before your eyes. When your skin care products contain what your skin needs, leaves out what it doesn’t, the result is results.<br/><br/>The next step to youthful, radiant looking skin is a serum to restore silky texture by locking in the moisture from the toner/balancer. This provides resiliency and elasticity for a younger looking you. This is almost like an invisible veil for your face.<br/><br/>You should even feel your skin tighten as it works. Serum revitalizes cells and restores your skin’s youthful elasticity. It locks in the moisture provided by the hydrating toner/balancer. Look for a formula made from botanical ingredients that are gentle on your skin and does not contain the harsh and harmful chemicals found in even some of the most popular “natural” products you find in stores.<br/><br/>Moisturizing cream and eye cream ought to provide light and rich moisture that penetrates deep. This builds a moisture cushion between your skin and the daily toxins you are exposed to. These products should visibly hydrate and rebuild. Look for an eye cream that has been ophthalmologist tested and includes trehalose which acts as an antioxidant to help fight the effects of stress and environmental irritants, and collagen to help nourish and restore.<br/><br/>This type of formula lightens dark circles and provides anti-inflammatory support to reduce puffiness. Using the right eye cream should give you a “younger point of view” as it works gently to minimize fine lines, circles, and puffiness and leaves the skin surrounding your eyes hydrated and nourished instead of droopy and puffy. So you look younger and you get rid of wrinkles!<br/><br/>Dried and irritated skin needs comfort as well. Look for a creamy liniment to provide extra emollients to calm the skin especially after shaving, waxing or for use in extreme weather conditions. Used after shaving, a product with botanically derived ingredients will act to protect the beneficial keratin that razors scrape away. Chapped and dried skin is protected and nourished to restore proper skin health and texture. Use it on the face, legs, hands, feet, elbows and wherever you have irritated skin. Find a lotion that gives your skin what it needs without all the stuff it doesn’t so that it will soothe your skin without stinging for optimal comfort and optimal results.<br/><br/>Dehydration of the skin is one of the major factors in skin aging. Premature aging is also the result of dietary deficiencies, hormone imbalance and stress.<br/><br/>To achieve truly beautiful, younger-looking skin, be sure to support optimal health on the inside as well. You may want to include in your daily regiment, natural dietary supplements to ensure that your body has the best and most bioavailable nutritional support available. Why take care of your skin with the best, botanically derived ingredients and nourish your body with cheap, synthetic and ineffective dietary supplements?<br/><br/>Look for vitamins and minerals along with phytochemicals in an all-natural form that your body can readily absorb. Antioxidants are needed to help protect cells against free radicals that can cause them to age prematurely. Plus you need to give your body the raw materials to build hormones for your endocrine system and glandular support.<br/><br/>Nourishing your body and your skin the right way may take time and effort but it will also give you radiant, glowing, younger-looking skin that people will envy wherever you go!<br/><br/>Remember “the proofs in the pudding” - how’s your skin care working for you?<br/><br/><br/><br/></div>

Isn’t it interesting that there is always some new makeup or beauty product that is a must-have? There’s the temptation of buying the latest new scent, makeup product, or skin care solution that sounds like it was made just for you. If you’re a makeup and beauty junkie it’s hard to resist the temptation of buying an awesome new product.

We all want to be the ultimate “package”, so why not try the latest and greatest new product that will make you look fabulous?

Because this addiction can be very expensive, that’s why!! But there are always new opportunities for you to get great deals on products if you know where and when to buy.

These tips will show you how to save money on makeup and beauty products:

1. Buy your products online. It can save you a lot of money. Internet retailers and distributors can afford to give deeper discounts and promotional offers because they have lower overhead than retail stores.

2. Use product coupons and discount coupons to get additional savings on a particular product. There are many websites that will lead you to particular retailers and distributors that consistently offer product coupons and discount coupons.

3. Take advantage of promotions. Many of the major cosmetic companies such as Clinique and Lancome have promotions where they give away a cosmetic set with a minimum purchase. Many times these promotions can save you money if you use the products they’re offering. But don’t waste money by making a purchase just to get the promotional items. If you don’t like the products, you haven’t wasted your money.

4. Register online or sign up for a newsletter on websites that promote makeup and beauty products. Some of these websites will notify you by e mail when there is a particular promotional deal or special savings opportunity.

5. Buy some of your products and supplies in bulk. Products that you use on a regular basis such as soaps, shampoos, and conditioners can be purchased in bulk to help save money.

6. Seek the distributors and retailers that give away free samples of new makeup and beauty products that you want to try. Many of us have wasted money on a new product or solution that we used and did not like. The free samples allow you to try new products to see if you like them without spending any money.

7. Take advantage of “money back guarantees” when offered on a new product. But if you don’t like it make sure you send it back for a refund! Statistics show that approximately 80% of consumers do not take advantage of such guarantees.

8. Do price comparisons online. There are websites that will help you find the best deal on name brand cosmetics that you may use. Be sure to take shipping charges into consideration which can sometimes make what appears to be an excellent deal a deal breaker.

Start saving money today by taking advantage of opportunities that will save you money on makeup and beauty products.

Mineral Cosmetics and Their Ingredients: Part One

<div><em><strong>Serjame Bayliss</strong> asked: </em><br/><br/><br/><strong>Mineral cosmetics companies</strong> are popping up on the Internet everyday with ingredients that are questionable as even being a pure mineral. Take bismuth oxychloride, while being in the mineral realm. Its a heavy metal and necessitates the constant buffing mineral makeup companies advise to force it into the skin and pores to keep it from sliding off your face. Over buffing of minerals can cause irritation and continuing inflammation on sensitive skin types. Further, it can make acne cystic by congesting pores and cause rosacea to flare. It is a by-product of lead and copper refining.<br/><br/><strong>Bismuth oxychloride</strong> commonly used as cheap filler. Thus major makeup companies can make a larger profit by using it with a pure pigment! The weight of this bi-product is heavy; of course it is heavy, it has lead in it and lead does not belong on your skin! Moving right along, please listen up, here is why even the former laden chemical companies are using BO in major brands that are now joining in on the mineral cosmetic market!<br/><br/><strong>BO is the world’s cheapest filler</strong>. In conclusion, don’t buy products that contain bismuth oxychloride in them, if you do your risking many skin issues that can cause irritation, reading the ingredients in the products that you buy is of the highest importance!!! Please read all the ingredients of all mineral products and if the company does not list ingredients, ask or by pass them altogether! My research shows that over 40% of mineral cosmetic companies don’t even list any of there, ingredients online, however the FDA requires one to print a label and place it on the bottom of any containers shipping worldwide.<br/><br/><strong>Here is a mineral cosmetic secret</strong> that few women know of, any product that has 1% or less of any ingredients the FDA say it doesn’t have to be on a label! Consequently, companies don’t list all of their ingredients. Some of the major brands out there also use another so to speak get out of jail free card by using these words (may contain bismuth oxychloride) if it says may contain my research shows BO is in your product. The exception to this rule is the use of <strong>(may contain </strong><strong>Kaolin Clay); there are products that don’t contain kaolin clay, however when making labels it’s easer to just print may contain this ingredient. My research does show this not to be true with BO as this is a get out of jail card! </strong><br/><br/><strong>If a product does contain </strong>Ferric Ferrocyanide the FDA states it must be listed on a label because this is often used in deep blues for eye shadows. However ferric ferrocyanide is never safe on one’s lips. Since your lips can transfer this product in to your bloodstream also Chromium Oxide Chromium Oxide Green is also not safe for your lips. Carmine (also called <strong>Crimson Lake)</strong> is safe for eye shadows, and used in some lipsticks.<br/><br/><strong>Some women have </strong><strong>allergic reactions to Carmine: Cochineal</strong> is the name of crimson or carmine dye and the <strong>cochineal insect</strong> (<strong>Dactylopius coccus</strong>), a scale insect in the suborder Sternorrhyncha, from which the dye is derived. Carmine used in mineral cosmetics eye shadows as a rule are low in percentage of volume however it’s really a choice for those who don’t like using any part of an insect on their skin!<br/><br/><strong>Pure minerals are just what the statements means</strong>. Please realize there are many gimmicks out there, and I am only trying to give you some insight on what is going on with the mineral cosmetics of today! Because I am a research makeup artist I have spent one year learning what it’s all about and what one should divert their attention on and what to avoid. After all minerals are good for your skin in many ways, however one can defeat their own purpose of them when mislead with some commercials!!!<br/><br/>Pure minerals means no dyes or lakes like the chemical cosmetics have and they should be without talk powder as many women have an allergic reaction to talk.<strong> </strong>Natural pigments are used instead of dyes or lakes or should I say should be used. There is no reason for a true pure mineral to have any fillers. They should not have any of the following ingridents in them: Magnesium Stearate a filler and<br/><br/>Zinc Stearate used to fight mold.<br/><br/>These products are not needed in loose minerals. However you will find some of them in pressed powders. The most common minerals found are Mica: A virtually neutral, transparent mineral that transpire naturally in the earth’s face and mined from all parts of the world.  When purified and crushed into fine powders which are used in developing mineral makeup.<br/><br/><strong>Titanium Dioxide:</strong> A naturally occurring mineral from the earth’s surface. Provides long-lasting coverage for mineral makeup foundation, setting powders and provides a natural, broad-spectrum UV protection. Anti-inflammatory properties and May calm skin and prevent breakouts.<br/><br/>Which is good for your skin as a whole with its built in SPF 15.<br/><br/><strong>Zinc Oxide:</strong> Anti-inflammatory with antimicrobial properties. It is the broadest spectrum UVA and UVB absorber that’s approved for use as a sunscreen by the FDA, and is completely photostable. It is also a main ingredient of mineral cosmetics.<br/><br/><strong>Iron Oxides</strong>: are the most commonly used pigment for coloring cosmetics such as foundation and eye shadow. Mixing these three groups of Iron Oxide in different ratios produces various skin colors. Good formulators sometimes use Iron Oxide to correct undertones of mineral cosmetics that delete casting hues to ones skin tone.<br/><br/><strong>Serecite:</strong> Fluffy translucent mica that may be used alone as a primer or setting powder and offers a silky texture to foundations and finalizers. Often used in mineral makeup formulas.<br/><br/><strong>Ferric ferrocyanide:</strong> An organic pigment that provides blue tones to natural mineral pigments. Not safe for lip use.  <br/><br/><strong>Kaolin Clay:</strong> A pure cosmetic powder that absorbs moisture, helps keeps down shine, provides an opaque, white base for colors, and assists with adherence to skin. Kaolin Clay is odorless, has a smooth texture and often used in mineral makeup matte foundation formulas. You will note that most cosmetic companies add Kaolin Clay and Boron Nitride when their products contains BO it will aid in adhesion to ones skin! BO also creates a strong shine to your face and this is unnatural in the over all look.<br/><br/><strong>Boron Nitride</strong>: The different forms of boron nitride provide slip, silkiness, adherence, and oil-absorption capabilities. Cosmetics Boron Nitride (BN) powder is a primary raw material for a wide range of cosmetic and skin care formulations, including foundations, Concealers and lipsticks, and sunscreens. Some advantages are increased adherence, smoother and softer feeling products, improved spread ability, extended wear, soft-focus properties oil absorption and to improve compressibility for pressed powders. It also brings out pigments to a brilliant color and has a positive effect on skin.<br/><br/><strong>Rice Powder:</strong> A highly absorbent product stemmed from ground rice. Absorbs both moisture and oils. Leaves a soft, silky feeling when added to mineral makeup powders.<br/><br/><strong>Mother-of-Pearl:</strong> Also know as Calcium Carbonate. Used as a whitener, oil absorber and filler, this fine white powder occurs naturally in marble, limestone, and oyster shells. Uses include pigment and pigment extender in cosmetics, mineral makeup, and as whitener in toothpastes. The use of Mother-of- pear is often used in pearly eye shadows. It is also often used as another filler, however in small amount of use it can make a unique look in cosmetics.<br/><br/><strong>Pressed powders versus loose minerals: </strong>To press a powder a chemical must be added to compress it to a solid form. Here is the negative pressed powders can have, whenever you add a chemical to a mineral there is the chance of bacteria being put in it. The amount of product is also lessened, as the containers are compact in size. The product has been altering to micro size. I will talk more about micro products in another article. The only positive I can say are pressed powders are less messy and are easer to carry around with you!<br/><br/><strong>Pure Loose Minerals never have additives: </strong>Pure means just that a process of advanced machinery the minerals go through. This means to you the consumer that loose minerals never need any paraben whatever, and even better yet you get what you pay for! While loose minerals never clog your pores, they can be reapplied as often as needed without ever giving you a caking feeling on your face.<br/><br/><strong>Loose minerals do need a quality kabuki brush</strong> for their application and yes a little messier but worth it in the long run.  For the best result swirl, a small amount of your loose minerals, angle your kabuki brush and swirl into the lid until all the minerals have been tucked into the bristles. Tap away excess. There should be no visible mineral on the outside the brush. Buff the minerals into the skin in a circular motion, starting on the outside your face near your cheekbone, swirling as you go. Buff around your face and then approach your forehead, cheeks, and nose.<br/><br/>Here ends part one.<br/><br/><br/><br/></div>

How the 7 Day Detox Diet Can Help Reduce Signs of Aging

Michelle Spencer asked:

There are more than enough means to protect your health as well as a natural detox. Eating plenty of fruits and vegetables, exercising and listening to a doctor are fine examples. But have you considered what may be pro-habiting in your system, eliminating all your determined work?

The best way of getting rid of these unwanted, unnatural toxins from your system is referred to as detoxing. Commonly called “a total body detox,” many complementary health consultants strongly recommend the method. Even so they recommend that a body detox should be performed slowly and with care. The traditional doctors however advise that detoxing your body should be done with a serious squeeze of salt.

Before you start the detoxification process, check with your doctor, as particular types of people may have an adverse reaction, and pregnant and nursing women are recommended to refrain from detoxing. Since a detox diet and its elements don’t make claims that they can overcome health issues, they are not influenced by the FDA and there is no scientific evidence of the effectiveness.

But doing a detox is abuzz and if you’re wanting to immerse yourself in the trend, here’s an insight into this alternative system.

How long you follow your detox diet for varies. If done correctly and regularly, a healthy detox can eliminate toxic chemicals, residues and manmade chemicals from your system. You could have heard about the book called “The Fast Track One-Day Detox Diet” by Ann Louise Gittleman. In her book, Gittleman walks readers through an 11 day body detox, during which they feed on certain foods for one week proceeded by a one-day fast, followed by the re-introduction of particular foods.

During the fast, detoxers can drink Gittleman’s ambrosian, spiced wonder juice fashioned to ward off hunger pangs, promote metabolism, control blood sugar and eliminate toxins out of your body. The drink contains cranberry, lemon and orange juice, cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger.

We weren’t subjected to these matters 100 years ago. Before the industrial revolution there were far fewer man made chemicals. Everyone is exposed to toxins in skin products like soap and makeup or even your drinking and shower water. The strength of a healthy detox to get rid off these toxins can be hard to trace.

The toxins get stored in our system and they can cause weight gain, increase aging and cause sluggishness, chest problems and skin allergies. The main components in virtually all detox supplements are milk thistle and dandelion root, which help clean and revitalize the liver.

Each time you go on a detox diet your liver gets a spring clean. This action also gives all your other organs a boost. They have a reduced workload to process all the junk that are getting in your system.

Most practitioners advocate a raw veggies and fruit detox diet for about seven days, supported with vitamin and mineral supplements and detox drinks. By giving your body basic foods that are easy to digest, your body can concentrate on eliminating the excess toxins. It can take several hours to digest a a junk food meal, but most raw fruits and vegetables lakes less than 30 minutes to digest.

The raw fruits and vegetable detox diet program is a 7 day detox diet that focuses on “liver supporting” and “colon-loving” foods. There are numerous books and detox products available on the subject that will include instructions, diet guidelines and pills.

Natural detoxification is a good thing but you should be ready and committed to seeing it through. Toxins in your body accumulate over time, meaning the regular detoxing is very important.

The sooner you do a detox, the healthier you’re going to be long term. The side effects of doing a detox might include withdrawal headaches (if you’re used to caffeine drinks of any sort), skin rashes and exhaustion. You’re releasing the toxins that have been stacked away and they’re entering your system. You never fully appreciate how your body is going to react.

Freelance Makeup Artist - The Basics

Nedra Hines asked:

I know you are anxious to begin working as a freelance makeup artist, but just in case you don’t have the funds to attend school right now, you can still gain useful knowledge and experience. I’ve been working as a freelance makeup artist for about 5 years now, and even though it’s hard work, I get to meet lots of different people and attend beautiful weddings. The most rewarding part for me is being able to “transform” the look of my clients. I just love it when they get excited and start smiling at the results.

The advice you receive from this article will help you get a descent start in getting the products you need, some clients to put in your chair, and to help you be more professional. Don’t forget there is more than one way to gain the experience you need, and I’m presenting some ideas and lessons that have helped me along the way.

When I first started I remember reading books about makeup/beauty. What helped me was getting books with color pictures to demonstrate the techniques, and with detailed writing. Some books contain content that is very vague, so it’s difficult to tell what is being done to the model’s face, which is why detail is so important. Also, try to be diverse about the types of books you read. I read books about mature beauty, Asian beauty, and Latina beauty because I wanted to be aware of certain concerns those groups may have. Great places to get books are from online bookstores and the local library.

If you have the extra funds I totally recommend attending a seminar from a professional (or a celebrity) makeup artist. This is a great opportunity to help you network with other freelance makeup artists, and to see the makeup application process through someone else’s eyes. It will help you improve your own work because you will receive some fresh ideas and information about great cosmetic products that are on the market.

Some items that you will need before getting started as a freelance makeup artist are a makeup case, makeup brushes, sample testers, a director’s chair, and makeup of course. A great place to purchase these items would be Ebay, or your local beauty supply. The makeup case I use has wheels with an extended handle, and fold-out compartments. I’ve used it for all of my assignments, and I’ve had no problems traveling with it. In regards to makeup brushes, make sure you opt for a set that isn’t too expensive, and will last a while - preferably sable or squirrel. Some examples of sample testers are individual mascara wands, lipstick applicators, and spatulas. These are so important to have because you want to prevent the transfer of bacteria from one client to the next. Pencil sharpeners are essential too for lip and eyeliners. Use it to shave off the used portion after dealing with each client.

You will use a director’s chair when seating your clients. I’m tall, so I find it incredibly useful. It’s also easy to fold and place in the trunk of my car. When collecting makeup, always start with basic, very diverse shades and colors. This will help in case you’re ever in a situation where you have to mix two different colors to get the desired color you need. The brand you use is up to you, but make sure you have the basics.

Some other good pointers would be to start with family and friends first. When you’re first starting out, you’re going to make mistakes, so it’s easier to use people who are close to you as your guinea pigs. They’re a lot less critical, and I’m sure they’ll make recommendations on how you can improve. Also, expose yourself to other artists that have different strengths. I say this because every freelance makeup artist has a different interpretation of what a certain look should be. I’ve known makeup artists that were wonderful at dramatic makeup, stage makeup, and bridal makeup. The more you learn from different people, the more diverse your techniques will be, which will improve your ability.

Last, but certainly not least, be professional. If you have a scheduled assignment, please be on time. Know that the bulk of your business will come from referrals, so you want to leave a good impression with your clients. If you have a client that is getting married and you have to work on location, dress appropriately for the wedding. Always wear an outfit that is classy, but that you can easily move around in. I tend to do a lot of walking when I’m on location, so it helps that my clothes aren’t restrictive. Don’t forget to bring your business cards with you to every event. Always pass them out so that others will have your information and can contact you if they need anything. Have fun and good luck on your glamorous journey!
